Paintballs Most Popular Games

Well, well, well… Looks like we’ve got someone trying to get an edge over their paintballing opponents and we’re here for it! Welcome to UKPaintball’s blog covering some of the most popular games in paintballing, with some tips and tricks on how to gain your victory on the battlefield.

To most people’s surprise, paintballing is more than just a group of adrenaline junkies opening fire on each other in a barren field, you’ll have some added spice with different scenarios and objectives for each game. The potential for these games is endless, however, here are the FIVE main action-packed paintball games you’ll experience.

Capture the Flag

Capture the flag is always the first name on the list, being action-packed and reliable for getting that blood pumping. The aim of the game is to capture your opponent’s flag, duh! However, it’s not so simple when both teams have the same objective. To set this game up, you’ll need two teams to start on opposite sides of the game zone with one flag in each team’s base. By using teamwork and  tactics, you must work together to take the flag from your opponent’s base, but it’s not over yet. In order to secure your victory, you’ll need to bring the flag all the way back to your own base. This is no easy feat, so make sure you’ve got your running shoes on to make it back before you get hit!

Attack vs Defend

Once again, the aim of the game is in the name! This paintball game is played in a map hosting a fortress, a bus, a control tower (or something similar), which one team will use to hunker down and protect themselves from the enemy who are looking to eliminate them all. It sounds pretty unfair for the attackers who have limited cover, so to even the odds, attackers are given multiple respawns for a set period or sometimes the entire game. So don’t be afraid when attacking and make the most of the respawn rules, but if you’re defending, get comfortable and use the environment to your advantage!

Protect the President

Next up, we have one of the more tactical games that you’ll experience in paintball. Imagine yourself (or teammate) playing the role of a President who took a wrong turn and ended up in the depths of a volatile warzone, not ideal to say the least. You’ll need your teammates to protect you from the attacking team and make it to the safety point, keep your head on a swivel as these pesky enemies can come from all angles!

The Detonator

Last but not least, we have The Detonator. You may see a few different names for this game but if you want to really test your bravery, this is game for you! A neutral object, is placed in the centre, with two teams starting at either side of the game zone. The objective for this game, is to take the device and place it in the enemy’s base. With your team, decide who will run for the device (usually the player who enjoys thrill of heavy incoming fire) and who will lay down the covering fire. Keep your eyes peeled for the enemies, decide on a route to take and move as a unit to seal victory with your squadron. Game on!

Elimination (Last Man Standing)

This is considered the original paintball game and has a few names e.g., team deathmatch, elimination or last man standing. Of all the games on this list, this is the simplest. The aim is to be last player hit, aka the last man standing, which seems easy enough, but this game thrives on the adrenaline rush requiring players to put their dodging skills to the test.
